Solutions Engineer

We’re searching for a skilled solutions engineer who works closely with customers to design, build, deploy, and support robotic systems. In this role, you’ll be interacting with new customers to determine their specific automation needs, then taking Southie’s product and tailoring to a deployable, executable full robotic solution. You will also be interacting with existing customers in support of already deployed systems.This will include excellent communication with customers, robotic cell CAD design, assembly, testing, debugging, deployment, and support. This is a hands-on process and high impact role, where you’ll see your solution being used in real manufacturing environments by hourly workers.


Required Skills:

  • 4+ years experience in mechanical engineering/automation
  • Proficiency with modeling in CAD software
  • Basic understanding of electrical wiring and circuitry
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Familiarity with robot concepts like kinematics, vision
  • Familiarity with python or C++
  • Familiarity with linux
  • Experience building out prototypes and final designs
  • Comfortable communicating to non-technical audiences 
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodology
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Open to up to 50% travel time


Preferred Skills:

  • Direct experience programming and installing industrial robot arms from various OEMs
  • Proficiency with designing parts for machinability
  • Quality Assurance familiarity
  • WMS software familiarity
  • Front End development experience or knowledge
  • Experience performing Customer Support Engineering
